Why Are You a Climate Change Skeptic?

#ActOnClimateChange

As a reminder to all climate change skeptics:

Please keep in mind that when discussing climate change today, we refer to anthropogenic climate change for instance through a number of different emissions, much of which end up in our water bodies around the world increasing water acidity, into our forests that are important sources of absorbing emissions and toxins, and everywhere else in our environment. At least nine million people worldwide die each year due to environmental toxins.

Moreover, wastewater management worldwide is at a very poor level. Most of all wastewater worldwide ends up back in nature without any kind of treatment. Wastewater treatment in a country like Finland is a worldwide exception.

All water bodies worldwide becoming toxic or drying out are examples of how human beings destroy the global environment in addition to the fact that all toxins and emissions are destroying our home planet and causing climate change. Do you want to eat food that has been intoxicated or grown on sick soils?

These are just a couple of examples of how the behavior and inconsideration of human beings causes climate change and the average temperature of planet Earth to rise to an unbearable level.

If you need/want further examples, please get in touch with me.

I witnessed personally how whole water bodies dried out this summer, left with not water at all after the dry period. Finland will not be spared from climate change any more or less than any other country. Despite of our many lakes and fresh water bodies, freshwater scarcity is already a reality which will affect all citizens worldwide. No one on this planet will be spared.

The time to act is now. We have no other option than to take better care of our water bodies and our environment, both in Finland and elsewhere in the world.

Observing and noting environmental problems is of course difficult if one is completely estranged from nature and used to living in an urban jungle without ever having seen a blue sky or a green forest during one´s lifetime.

Or, if one is so used to a polluted environment; how can one distinguish between a healthy and sick environment? Majority of human beings seem to belong to the latter group; with an inability to distinguish between what is healthy and what is sick. It is a skill that has to be practiced. Furthermore, environmental toxins are invisible to the human eye.

It is worthwhile to become familiar with nature and the environment, which is our natural living space and reflect deep upon what is currently taking place in our surrounding world

Muistutuksena ilmastonmuutosskeptikoille:

Pitäkää mielessänne, että puhuttaessa ilmastonmuutoksesta tänä päivänä viitataan ihmisten aiheuttamaan ilmastonmuutokseen esimerkiksi erilaisten päästöjen muodossa, joista suuri osa päätyy vesistöihimme lisäten niiden happamuutta, metsiimme jotka toimivat päästönieluina ja kaikkialle muualle ympäristöön. Maailmassa ainakin 9 miljoonaa ihmistä kuolee vuosittain pelkästään saasteisiin ja niistä johtuviin tappaviin sairauksiin.

Lisäksi jätevesien puhdistus maailmanlaajuisesti on erittäin heikolla tasolla.

What is The Future of Agriculture and Food Production?

As a holder of the WSET Advanced certificate and a student of the WSET Diploma in and since 2007, I grew tired of the alcohol politics and Alko´s wholesale monopoly of wines in Finland. I spent thousands of euros of my own money to study for this program, just to realize that despite of my passion for wines and viticulture, there are far more important problems to be solved in our world.

Viticulture is nevertheless an important tradition and part of culture in many countries worldwide, but seeing how vulnerable the whole industry is to annual weather patterns I realized that humanity faces much larger problems and that my true professional calling is something else than marketing and promoting wines for sale in a country marked by a monopolized alcohol industry.

While studying viticulture I came to realize how fragile our local and global ecosystems are, with (micro) climates influencing local and global agriculture in a way that leaves many farmers with huge problems to just being able to survive financially. Like in much of agriculture around the world, the markets are dominated by a specific number of huge brands that buy much of the crop from small growers through co-operatives. Without these co-operatives many small farmers and wine growers would not be able to survive.

I have visited many wine regions during my life, including most of France, Hungary, and Northern Italy. In October 2010 I visited Napa and Sonoma Valleys in California. 2010 was a disastrous year for Californian vineyards due to excess downfall (rain) that destroyed most of the crop.

From viticulture to farming in general, Finland lost around 40% of all crops in 2017 due to too much rainfall. This year the reason for loss of crop has been excess drought, which will affect the prices of for instance bread. Farmers in Finland have for long already been dependent upon EU subsidiaries, with farming overall being seen as a strategic necessity for a country like Finland. A strategic necessity despite of the fact that most food consumed in Finland is actually also being produced here, since population favors and prioritizes close production and domestic food production.

How have we come to a point where agriculture and food production are being treated as a strategic necessity and where industrialized food production damages both the environment, animals, and people?

Food as a basic necessity for survival, agriculture and food production should be valued more both in terms of environmental protection, animal protection and well-being and human well-being.

It is a shame that billions of tons of food is being thrown away and wasted each year worldwide, while certain states are being controlled or even controlling their population through withholding their citizens from receiving the very basic necessities for survival, such as fresh water and food, despite of the fact that our world produces an excess of food and that starving people to death is a matter of political manipulation worldwide.

Viininviljelystä maanviljelyyn yleisesti, Suomi menetti noin 40% kaikesta sadosta vuonna 2017 runsaiden sateiden vuoksi. Tänä vuonna liika kuivuus on pilannut suuren osan sadoista, mikä tulee vaikuttamaan esimerkiksi leivän hintaan.

Ihmisten näännyttämisessä nälkään on kyseessä tahallinen ihmisten poliittinen manipulointi.

What Do You Know About Green Capitalism?

Business and entrepreneurship can be more sustainable in terms of society and the environment. In addition to nature and the environment, it is beneficial for all members of society when businesses become more sustainable. Environmental friendliness and sustainable development do not signify that humanity should give up on business and entrepreneurship, but in fact that we should search and find more sustainable solutions now that world population is growing almost exponentially.

It is wrong to claim that environmental decisions made in a sparsely populated country like Finland would not have any significance on a global scale. As a matter of fact, Finland should as an innovative and leading world democracy be a pioneer in terms of sustainable solutions in regard with the climate and the environment, unless Finland wants to stagnate and fall behind global development.

What is Sustainable Economic Development?

Reading this analytical, reflecting article “The demise of the nation state“, written by Rana Dasgupta and published in The Guardian on April 5th 2018, can be helpful in understanding the broader context of various earthly concerns, including anthropogenic climate change and its undeniable fact of being a global problem with a lack of respect for any inter/national borders.

Hence, every action taken by any nation around the world regardless of its geographical size or amount of population plays a crucial role in creating a healthier and more sustainable future. Countries that invest heavily in sustainable development, including renewable and environmentally friendly energy sources, are now pioneers and role models for less environmentally conscious and unsustainable states.

What makes your home country a pioneer of sustainable economic development? Please comment and share this post to increase awareness of the importance of sustainable economic development worldwide. Anne-Maria Yritys

Geoengineering

How Acceptable Is Geoengineering?

A few more tropical days in Finland, with hot days and evenings marked by thunderstorms, and then it looks like we’re getting back to normal finnish temperatures, around +20 degrees celsius during summer months.

How much of the heatwave is a consequence of geoengineering, artificially manipulated weather patterns by human beings in countries like China and the USA, remains unknown.

I would like to know your opinions and thoughts about GEOENGINEERING.

Acceptable?

Ethical?

Long-term consequences?

Short-term consequences?

Let me know.

Why Should You Stop Ignoring Climate Change?

Alert: we must stop global warming and bring down global average temperatures as soon as possible to avoid natural disasters and catastrophes everywhere on this planet, including the Arctic region.

The more we burn fossil fuels and release toxins into our regional and global environments, the worse the situation gets: the global mean average temperature increases more and more, especially damaging the more forests and nature we burn down.

Extensive droughts around the world and other extreme weather events are the result of anthropogenic climate change whereby the harmful actions carried out by human beings around our globe are leading to these phenomena.

A number of research and sources indicate that unless action is taken NOW to lower and to bring down the global average temperatures, we are running out of time to save our environment and the home planet we live in.

This is also the true purpose behind the Paris Agreement which was signed by almost all countries worldwide in Paris in December 2015. The very same agreement that current US President Donald Trump resigned from, because he is too short-sighted and ignorant to see and to understand environmental contexts, issues and well-being.

It is about time that the far-spread ignorance and stupidity among people on this planet ends. We cannot lose or waste any more time to turn the sheets towards a healthier planet, where our environment is appreciated and being taken seriously in terms of all life on Earth.

If we continue damaging our home planet at this rate, we may have to face extremely serious consequences within only ten years, or within the upcoming decades.

The seriousness of our environmental well-being is the reason why I continue to inform and educate people around the world on this topic, a cause that I have worked for since many years now.

Open your eyes, learn, and see what happens to our environment around the world. Stop ignoring the hard facts and truth.
