What Makes a Loyal Leader?

In a world where majority of people could not care less, be an exception to the rule.

Don’t let the world turn you into a cold, cynical, and exploitative person who builds thick walls around themselves and who shuts out all their feelings, unable to be authentic, caring, and genuine. Who leaves people colder than how they found them.

This world needs genuine people with soft skills. Authentic leaders who create, engage and lead the way but who also know how to set healthy boundaries and who know what is acceptable and what is not. People who create awareness rather than destroy it, people who know how to keep the calm rather than cause constant chaos and conflict. People who know how to truly listen, rather than speaking about themselves all the time.

Be cautious about who is a giver and who is a taker, who cannot stop admiring and talking excessively about themselves at all times, who is self-centered and who is not. True leaders never talk about themselves and their achievements all the time. True leaders know how to give credit rather than constantly being the center of attention themselves.

True leaders are interested in other people, and not just for the sake of making a quick profit at the expense of the relationships. Who say that they don’t lead to showcase their trophies, but who nonetheless never hesitate to advertise their personally perceived greatness as a leader by the amount of prizes and medals they have collected. Just to brag and to show off. Look at me, and look at my trophies.

Too many broken promises, empty and meaningless words expressed by people who have lost touch with their true nature and personality. Who seek to profit from others at all costs, unable to build and to maintain honest, long-lasting relationships. That is not leadership.

In a world where manipulation, deceit and hypocrisy have become a rule rather than an exception, people having thousands of fake friends who are more than willing to take and to suck all the energy out of you like vampires thirsty for more and more blood, make sure to be solid like a rock and live your authenticity regardless of what anyone else may say or think.

Look out for people who are there for you not only when they think they can profit from you. Who put a price tag on you. As soon as these people notice that you are just an ordinary human being, they disappear or never show up. Because to them, being associated with influential people with money is everything. As long as you are a materialistic millionaire you fit into their club. Otherwise, they think they can just exploit you of whatever they think they can get out of you, like your knowledge.

Be a genuine lightworker, a leader with purpose who is not afraid of lighting the path for others.

Tips for Making a Difference as a Leader

Never underestimate the valuable and important difference you make in every life you touch, for the impact you make today has a powerful rippling effect on every tomorrow

Year 2015 is soon over. When you look back at this year, what do you see? What has taken place in your career, in your personal life, in the world around you? Have you achieved the things you wanted to achieve?

If you have, congratulations upon your achievements. If not, why not? What have you failed to achieve? And, most importantly, why do you think you have failed to achieve your true ambitions and goals? What kinds of obstacles did have you faced this year? How did these obstacles and barriers affect your way of thinking, and your way of achieving your true desires, and making you fulfill your dreams? Did you even stop for a moment to reflect upon what you actually truly want to achieve, or did you stay within your comfort zone, postponing your actual desires?

If you have, NOW is the time to take action! NOW is the time to finally plan for year 2016, if you already haven´t. No matter if for the sake of your personal growth as a leader, for the sake of your (small) business, or for the sake of the organization(s) you serve. DREAM BIG, BUT ALSO: BE PREPARED TO WORK FOR YOUR PERSONAL GOALS. No one else is going to do it for you, only YOU personally are responsible for the actions you take. And, no one will ask you, or push you, especially if the goals are for you specifically, or for your small business. You will have to take the responsibility, make the planning, and stick to the goals you set yourself, and the actions you aim to take, and the results you aim to see either within yourself or within your business in the upcoming year(s).

There are no specific rules for making a difference. YOU make the rules. YOU personally have the responsibility for making the rules, for making the planning, and for actually taking the necessary steps in order to make a difference in 2016! Keep this in mind while planning for your future, both on a personal, and on a professional level. And, no matter how difficult it may seem, make sure to plan ahead for at least five years. It is easier said than done, especially in these turbulent times of constant insecurity and change, but nevertheless, make sure to make a five-year-plan both on personal and on professional levels, including:

Where do you/your business want to be in five years from now?

That is in 2020. Planning your personal, and your professional lives, five years ahead is no easy task. Actual planning for years ahead requires courage, and the ability to take a risk of failing in your actual planning. NEVER MIND. Plan despite of the challenges of planning in the 21st century. Most leaders, small businesses, entrepreneurs and startups actually do fail due to the fact that they are incapable of planning for the upcoming years. BE DIFFERENT! BE BOLD! Take the risk, and make sure to plan for five years, or at least, for three years in advance. REMEMBER – YOU CAN ALWAYS ADJUST YOUR PLANS ALONG THE JOURNEY! Be like a sailor who knows how to adjust his/her sails during the journey – but also a sailor who has planned his/her journey in advance. If you want to cross the Pacific Sea, you must be capable of planning your journey, but also be prepared to meet unexpected challenges and storms during your trip.

How do your business/personal activities improve society around you?

We all want to make a positive difference in society, and in the world. At least this is how the majority works, and aims to lead their lives! Every individual, and leader with awareness and a pure, conscious mind, wants to give back to communities, and to society. It is our duty as human beings, and especially the duty of those who are doing (extraordinarily) well in their careers/personal lives. Make sure to plan ahead for humanitarian activities in your personal/business life – this is something every responsible (business) person, and leader does, and includes in their long-term planning. The purpose of your being here, and the purpose of all your activities, is not only to please your ego, but in fact to develop your higher self, your higher consciousness, take positive actions, and serve as an example to everyone around you. Your personal leadership does not require being a member of any specific organization, representing any specific business, or any specific religion – it is sufficient that you aim to make a POSITIVE difference by being yourself, making yourself and people around you happy, and at ease. Our world knows enough problems. Be a leader who knows how to reduce these problems instead of increasing them.

Take Yourself, Your Goals and Desires, and Your Plans Seriously!

If you TRULY, AND HUMBLY want to make a difference in our world, you MUST believe in yourself, in your dreams, and in your goals. You do not have to move mountains at once, but you have to be willing and ready to make even the smallest of differences in your every day life, and in your every day business. Every act matters, and small improvements when accumulated lead to huge differences in the world! Remember this, especially when you at times question yourself, your actions, and your plans, and whether they really do make a difference. THEY DO. AND, YOU DO. AS LONG AS YOU ACTUALLY DO STICK TO THE GOALS YOU HAVE SET YOURSELF.

And, remember, no one will be there to push you but yourself, unless you hire someone to actually PUSH YOU & PUSH YOUR GOALS FURTHER IN LIFE, BOTH ON PERSONAL AND ON PROFESSIONAL LEVELS.

Why is Balanced Leadership More Important than Ever?

A well-balanced, inclusive approach, according to certain standards and ideals, is essential for the proper governance of any country (Laisenia Qarase)

One of the core responsibilities for leaders of the 21st century is to create, and to develop organizations and societies where both femininity and masculinity are well-balanced. This is a responsibility for men and women equally. Women have to stand up for their rights as equal citizens and human beings regardless of, and forgetting about, what may have been true in history, and in the past. It is time to leave the past behind, and focus upon improving organizations and societies holistically by giving women equal opportunities in any cultural setting. Although a challenge for women themselves to stand up for their equal rights and for justice to be served in a currently male influence and power dominated world, also men have to support this development.

The Nordic countries, including Finland, are among the most equal countries in the world, where women have since long had equal rights with men, including the right to vote, the right to study and to practice a profession of their choice, the right to engage in activities such as riding a bicycle, something that is regarded as a taboo for women in certain countries. For a Nordic woman and for women in the developed world economies it is difficult to understand why riding a bicycle would be somehow unacceptable for the other gender. Why should this not be the case when the same human rights apply for every individual? Although the right for women to ride a bicycle is among the smallest of problems on our path towards gender equality and balanced leadership, it is among one of the most ridiculous taboos from a feminist perspective.

Leaders have to be trained and mentored to see things from a completely new perspective. Regardless of the equal status of both men and women e.g. in Finland, even in this what we like to call progressive state, women still do face, and have to deal with gender biases and discrimination due to gender. In the past years, developments have taken place to include a certain percentage of women into the decision-making boards of organizations. Some have criticized this, stating that leadership is not about gender, but rather about personality, suggesting that there need not be a legislation regarding board structures, or how organizations and countries are governed.

Of course these changes and structures are needed, and they are urgently needed throughout our globe because a) our world needs to be balanced, and balance can only be created and developed when all human beings are treated according to the Universal Human Rights Conventions, and not according to which gender they belong to; b) femininity and masculinity are part of every human being, and it is about time that leaders, and citizens in general, allow for both femininity and masculinity to thrive in a balanced way throughout our world.

In a balanced organization (society/world), working towards a common objective, there is success (Arthur Helps)

Why do leaders have to create, and to develop balance in the world?

To simplify the arguments for the response to this question, leaders (and people in general) could ask themselves the question: Why is a banana yellow? Or, why is sea water so salty? Why do we have roses in so many colors in this world? Why do we, as human beings, even see colors? When we have been given all the beauty that exists in our world, and in the Universe, should we ignore this beauty or give all colors equal opportunities, and equal rights to thrive in a Universe that was created not to satisfy the egos of some, but to serve as a home and place of well-being for all living, including flora and fauna.

Our world as a whole, including animals, nature and people, regardless of gender or other external attributes, deserves balance. Everyone deserves balance. Everyone deserves peace.

How can we achieve balance?

Balance is a way of being, and in order to create change, and develop ourselves and the world around us, we need to empty our minds and see things from a completely new perspective. Forget about old patterns and behaviors, and allow for ourselves and for other individuals to think in completely new ways. Balance has to be achieved inwardly so that it can be mirrored into the outside world, and create the changes that our world both deserves and needs.

The Business of Gender Balanced Leadership:

Thank you for reading, commenting, liking, sharing, and for unlearning certain behaviors and patterns that may not serve your personal growth and development as a leader and a globally aware, unbiased professional. Thank you also for developing qualities in yourself and in your environment that support the creation and development of balanced, equal, and non-discriminating leadership.
