Last night I received an inquiry through my website annemariayritys.com from a person who suggested that he would write and feature my story at Entrepreneur.com for USD 2.000, claiming that the article would give me more credibility. I searched the person’s name online, and found nothing.
Why should I pay USD 2.000 for an article in Entrepreneur.com to some random, unknown individual? Be careful with all those many scammers out there; there are plenty of them on digital and social media.

For most small business owners and entrepreneurs, Twitter Inc. is definitely one of the most important social media sites to create your brand presence. Why is that? Why not focus only on for instance Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram or YouTube?

There is no other social media platform comparable with Twitter. Twitter has for years been among the top ten most visited websites worldwide. Regardless of its stagnation in terms of amount of users worldwide, Twitter is the easiest place to connect with brands, celebrities, businesses, and professionals of interest.

Moreover, you can use Twitter to engage your audience and drive more online traffic to any website through the usage of backlinks.

Regardless of the amount of activity on your business Twitter account, make sure to be present and share what your business is about. Connect with your target audience, engage them, and make your Twitter timeline a unique place for them to visit by sharing relevant information/posts related to your business/industry.

How to Create Your Online Business in Five Easy Steps

In today´s digital world, where traditional employment is becoming increasingly much insecure, taking personal responsibility for your income is more important than ever. What could be a better opportunity than to unleash and to use your creativity by starting your personal online business? By doing so, you are not only proactive and responsible for your income and life, but also have the opportunity to make use of ALL the creative potential within you, and ALL of your skills.

Here are a few useful tips for creating and starting your online business:

1. Determine your goals and values. 

Before starting, make sure to know what your goals and values are. While making money is important for survival, living and working a purposeful life is in fact more important. At least, do determine what you are not willing to do to reach your goals! This often includes shutting out certain activities, or even complete industries, while working on your goal(s) and sticking to your life values. If you have a special niche that you are interested in, do not be afraid of going after your dreams! After all, we live only once and following your passion may be more important than having a secure paycheck once a month. And, what could be better than creating a (secure) income by sticking to your values and following your passion?

2. Start small, but dream BIG! 

What most people are afraid of, is to think too big. Make sure to be an exception to the rule! Dare to dream big, and do not let naysayers talk you out of your goals. Or, even better, do not even involve naysayers. Shut them out, involve people who support you, and be prepared to put all your focus upon believing in yourself and your vision. Some entrepreneurs say that if you have a plan B, you do not believe enough in your idea/in yourself/in your capability to execute your great ideas into action, and reality. Not everyone can “jump off” the cliff and become 100% entrepreneurs at once. If that is the case for you, start small and build your business as a hobby or as a second income beside your full-time job. Just make sure that your current employer/contract allows for any outside activities and check that what you do is legal. Planning is an essential part of entrepreneurship: many entrepreneurs fail at this, which is why it is so important to have a three-year, or even a five-year-plan. Both long-term and short-term planning are essential for business success. Focusing upon your daily, weekly, and monthly activities is as important as focusing upon where you want to be in three, five, or ten years from now.

3. Determine your WHY

Determine your why for being in business. If you do not know why you are in the business you are, you will be trampled down by competition in zero time. Be inspired, passionate, and have a clear purpose for what you do. In addition to knowing your why, make sure to know your where, and to whom: segmentation is an essential aspect of any business, whether you are operating online or offline. Without knowing your why, where, and to whom, you will be segmenting your business to basically everyone. Needless to say, not everyone will be your customer: at least not a loyal/paying customer, so segmentation can save you a lot of effort, money, and time.

4. Create your website on WordPress.com

Depending upon the type of online business, you do not necessarily need a business website. If you are for instance trading the stock market, there is no need for a personal/business website. However, creating a business/personal website for instance on the world´s most used platform WordPress is completely free of charge. WordPress is not only the most commonly used website worldwide, but also one of the most visited. You can choose between several different options, starting with a completely free-of-charge version and upgrading to a business version where you can easily not only monetize your website in a number of ways but also connect it to all your other social media sites, such as Twitter, and improve your overall web traffic including search engine marketing (SEM) and search engine optimization (SEO).

5.  Focus, focus, focus!

Never ever be afraid of making mistakes. We all make mistakes, all the time! After all, what would life be without mistakes? Just make sure not to get stuck with your mistakes, as long as what you do is legal. Be brave enough to experiment, but also remember to keep your focus on your goal(s). Find people to collaborate with, or at least be generous with your (online) networks. There is no such thing as a self-made entrepreneur or person, because we all do depend upon other people and external events. Even if you are working completely alone, you are always dependent upon the outside world. Give credit to people around you, especially to those who do deserve it. Be thankful for all the lessons you learn through your experiences. The hardest lessons in life and business are the most valuable ones. Do not let them hinder you from focusing upon your goals, and from striving forward and making your business and life a success.

What any Wanna-Be Entrepreneur Must Know Before Taking a Leap Into the Unknown

There is no lesson greater in life than learning from entrepreneurs, and entrepreneurship. Being an entrepreneur signifies so many different things to so many different people, and there is no entrepreneur like another, because despite of the many characteristics and personality traits shared by (successful) entrepreneurs, every entrepreneur is still unique, a courageous but most definitely not fearless individual who has chosen the exciting, and often rewarding road of entrepreneurship due to one reason or another.

Entrepreneurs are often dreamers, but more than dreamers they are doers, and people with vision and strong will-power, dedication and a willingness to change things for the better, to improve the world, and to influence people around them and society with their activities. Nevertheless, before making the leap and before jumping into the unknown, every wanna-be-entrepreneur should take into consideration a number of very important things. Many of these lessons, unfortunately, are often learned only through experience, especially if the enthusiastic entrepreneur does not take time to listen to sound advice given to them by people who have already had the same experiences. Many failures could be avoided by listening, and by engaging with valuable mentors. Yet, every entrepreneur also ought to listen to their inner voice, i.e. their intuition before and when making decisions.

This is true not only in the United States, where already 30 % of total workforce are freelancers, according to successful entrepreneur Tony Robbins and his team: 7 Finance Tips for Freelancers, but also everywhere else in the world. Self-employment and small businesses, in fact, are the lifeblood of any society. An additional fact that every professional ought to understand is that every economy does rely very heavily upon entrepreneurship, micro-, and small businesses. And, every large-scale business has begun small – it is only a matter of studying the history of any large organization, and see where it once has started, how it has evolved and developed throughout the decades, and where it stands today.

Listen to the naysayers. Also listen to the optimists. 

Definitely – do listen to the naysayers – but do not let them discourage you from realizing your plans. The naysayers often have important lessons to share that we can ultimately benefit, and learn from. However, make sure not to let the pessimists sway you away from believing in what you do. Every naysayer has a reason for their behavior, and their attitude is 100 % about either negative personal experiences, or fear. Every entrepreneur has to listen to, and learn from, naysayers and pessimists, but most importantly, focus more upon, and learn from those who have gone from failure to failure, yet never given up – those, who ultimately are the real optimists, and who have achieved success despite of the many ups and downs that their entrepreneurship may have involved.
Know What You Love. Know What You Want. And, go for it! 

Entrepreneurship, at its best, is all about doing what you really love, and fulfilling your passions. Entrepreneurship, like life, is not about finding yourself, it is about creating yourself, and the world you want to see around you. Being a successful entrepreneur is not a part-time, or even a full-time job. It is a lifestyle. Be brave enough to take the leap, especially if and when you want to fulfill your personal life mission instead of living someone else´s dream, in a 9 to 5 job. To become, and to be a successful entrepreneur is about believing in yourself and in your dreams regardless of what anyone else may have to say.

Plan Your Business (Activities), but also be prepared for changing your plans and goals along the journey. 

Planning one´s activities is one of the most important aspects of successful entrepreneurship. If this is one of your weaknesses, make sure to learn how to plan, both short-term, and long-term. And, find someone who can help you with the planning if you personally are a lousy planner. Entrepreneurship is not a hobby – it is in fact hard work, and no matter if it is a lifestyle, planning your dream lifestyle with all necessary activities included, does require careful planning. Value your personal time much enough in order to take the necessary time, and make the effort to plan your activities. Otherwise, you will be unfocused and risk burning yourself out.

Get a(n) experienced mentor/mentors. Value fruitful relationships. Network. 

Every entrepreneur needs at least one mentor, perhaps several. Make sure to find mentors with whom you have a respectful, honest, and objective (business) relationship. Seek mentors who are entrepreneurs themselves. And, make sure to focus upon building long-term, mutually beneficial (business) relationships. Network. No entrepreneur survives alone, and every successful entrepreneur seeks advice from a number of professionals – choose wisely.

Choose Your Partners Carefully

Many entrepreneurs go solo, while others prefer partnering up with other people. If you partner up with someone, make sure the professional in question is sharing your enthusiasm, vision, but most of all, that you can rely upon him/her. Business is always business. Make sure to have everything on paper, and make proper agreements/contracts (not only in spoken form). Many entrepreneurs have stated the fact that they wish they had signed that contract. Do not take anything for granted, or trust anyone but yourself.

Your success in business, entrepreneurship and in life, in general, can be defined by a number of factors, and through how hard and persistent you are willing to work in order to reach your personal goals. It does not matter whether you are an apprentice, a clerk, a CEO or whatever your current title may be. Rather, forget about and drop your title and focus upon what you truly want to achieve in life.

We continuously grow and learn in and through life. What you are today may not be equal with what you want to be, and will be tomorrow.

Many people dream about being CEO´s, but as soon as they get the experience of being one, they start dreaming about becoming something else. Before you throw yourself into something because of the title (or, the money), consider the WHY. Why do you want to be XYZ? What is your purpose? And, what is your passion?

No matter what, your desires may change with time and experience. After all, we are here to develop, evolve and learn not only about our environments, but also about ourselves. How far you are willing to go in your career depends upon a number of factors, and personal qualities, in addition to your maturity as an individual.

 

The definition of success is personal, but succeeding in business and entrepreneurship withholds a number of internal and external attributes that you either possess or should actively develop in yourself in order to succeed in business life.

1. Know what you stand for. Know yourself, what you are about, and what you have to offer. Know the services/products you are capable of, and willing to, offer your clients.

If you do not know yourself or your business, how can you assume anyone else can? The first thing you have to do in order to become successful, is to define yourself, your values, your purpose, passion, and what you and your business have to offer.

2. Ambition.

Ambition is a natural attribute in human beings. There is nothing wrong in being ambitious. If people told you otherwise, you have to unlearn this nonsense. Be ambitious in achieving your dreams and in working for a purpose. However, learn how to distinguish between being normally ambitious and in being extremely ambitious. People may fear extreme ambition, so be aware of stepping upon other people´s toes. Nevertheless, learn how to say no and how to stand up for your personal beliefs. After all, you do not want to end up being a people-pleasing doll or anything alike.

3. Determination.

Business, and life in general, requires determination. You have to be willing to throw your hat in the ring. You have to learn how to be stronger than your fears, and even though we all have certain fears, it is necessary to learn how to win your fears and transform these into positive action. Nothing worth doing is easy, but the more actions you take, and the more you step out of your personal comfort zone, the more you will gain. Try it out and see for your self.

4. Vision.

Know yourself, your business, and have a direction. Without goals and direction your ship will simply sail across the oceans being at risk for losing both its sight, and the people on board.

5. Emotional Intelligence.

In business, entrepreneurship, life in general and in all social interaction you will have to learn emotional intelligence skills. Emotional intelligence includes a wide spectrum of capabilities, such as learning how to read people, how to cope and how to negotiate in challenging situations, but also how to protect yourself from toxic people in your environment and how to remove their power over your (business) life. Developing, and learning, emotional intelligence skills are essential for succeeding in life, and in business. I can warmly recommend for you to read Emotional Intelligence 2.0, a book written by Dr. Travis Bradberry and Jean Grives, recommended by The Dalai Lama himself, including life-changing tips in how to become more successful in your life, and in business. Do not let the lack of emotional intelligence be a hinder for your personal, and/or, business success.

6. Soft Skills.

Use your soft skills and life/professional experience to succeed. Be yourself, be authentic. People do, and will notice whether you are authentic or not. There is no point in playing roles, or in trying hard to be something else than you truly are. Get rid of your fears, and get real. People who appreciate your true, authentic nature, will find their way to you and stay around you. In a world that sometimes may feel harsh, soft skills are in real demand. The world needs authentic, true people who are capable of developing leadership and business using soft skills for success. You are the one to demonstrate those traits, and qualities, to businesses, people, organizations, and societies around you.

 

7. Drive, passion, purpose, and love for what you do in life.

Expressing passion, purpose, and love for everything you undertake in life and in business, will lead you to success. If you have no passion for what you do, you may as well give up and let someone else take over. Dance as if this were your last day in life – do not be afraid to sweat, nor about giving yourself fully into whatever you are practicing, as long as it serves your passions, and purposes.

8. Risk-taking capability and risk-tolerance.

All action, business, and entrepreneurship requires risk-taking capabilities. Without any risks, there cannot be any rewards. However, integrate risk management into your operational practices and never risk more than you can actually handle.

9. Self-confidence, trust in yourself in and in your future plans.

All success requires action, and action requires the ability of overcoming your fears. There is always a risk of failure, but those who want to avoid failure at all costs are never capable of taking action and vice versa. Therefore, have confidence in yourself, in the things you do and want to pursue, and create an attitude for success.

10. Learn how to plan your future, have an open mind, be determined, and willing to succeed.

Things do not always turn out, or unfold, the way we want them to, but all successful action, business, and entrepreneurship requires for its leader to be capable of planning ahead, and most preferably long-term. There is a point in living in the present moment, but future success also requires for you to be capable of planning the future of your life, and business.

11. Essential business AND people skills.

You can, and will, learn business and people skills through work and business life, but also through international business management education such as earning an MBA (or, another higher education including people management skills). If not through education, then through practical experiences. Life, and business, are about developing and creating long-term partnerships and relationships. Therefore, these skills will be essential for your success in business, and in life. Essential business skills, knowledge, understanding and wisdom also include the capability of understanding global operations holistically, understanding economics, politics, and geography.

Are you a passionate individual with good ideas, creativity, and a can and will do attitude, ready to work towards realizing your dreams? Good, because these are some of the most important prerequisites for starting your own business. If you also have risk-tolerance and see the opportunity in everything and are willing to run against your fears, entrepreneurship may be the thing for you.

Small is beautiful. 

Have you ever thought about the reasons for being employed, rather than being self-employed? Or why, in the first place, you are working for an enterprise rather than starting something of your own?

There is no such thing as security in the corporate world. 

Nice, if you are working for a large corporation, but in fact, how much security can your large employer give you? If you really are looking for security, make sure to start your own business instead, because large corporations do offer you anything but security.

More than 50 % of all business worldwide is SMALL business. Thus, the importance of small business is extremely important in and to any economy. Without small business/es, the world would not be the same. 

And, by starting (and, perhaps growing) your own business, you not only take charge of your own finances, but also make sure to remain independent and untouched by the strategic decisions (including mass-layoffs) made by large employers, who often could not care less about their most important asset – their human capital.

– You are enthusiastic, hard-working, result-oriented, forward-thinking, and progressive

– You are tired of sending your CV or resume to employers, companies and organizations that do not see your potential, or, if they do, rather hire someone cheaper, less qualified or less progressive => You are tired of wasting your precious time, energy, knowledge and skills on sending applications to firms where robots rather than real people read your CV, with your CV ending up in the trash before a real human being has even seen it. Instead of wasting your time upon useless activities, you might as well use your time for more important activities, such as starting your own business and creating your own rules.

And, if your society does not support entrepreneurship, make sure to start your business in a country which does support it, including essential and relevant things enabling successful entrepreneurship, such as an enough big market, a rewarding rather than punishing taxation policy for (small) businesses. In other words, an innovative, accepting and progressive market economy allowing for entrepreneurs to thrive.

During my entire life I have had the pleasure and opportunity to encounter countless people, individuals, and professionals who have not only become my mentors, teachers, friends, business contacts, and much more than I could ever have imagined. The lessons I have learned through experiences, observation, analysis and open-mindedness expand much farther than I could ever have imagined.

My fears in the past have been huge, perhaps the most important reason why I so eagerly want to help other people in overcoming their fears, and using their fears as a stepping stone towards manifesting true greatness. I am fearful, but I am also very courageous, because it takes a lot of courage to be capable of admitting that you actually are fearful. We all have fears, but only when overcoming those fears can we truly become capable of manifesting the most magical things in life, and business.

We are all creative individuals with the ability to create, and develop, the most wonderful things and circumstances. The moment we, or you, realize your true potential, you become a magician to whom nothing is impossible.

Many times creativity is undervalued, mainly due to narrow-mindedness, legal restrictions and so forth. But true creativity, when fully expressed, knows no limits.

Children are naturally creative. Until they have to adjust to the general rules of life, being restricted and limited to express themselves in a creative, and expected to behave in a certain manner. Why is creativity so strongly being suppressed in a world that so strongly longs for increased creativity?

The world needs creativity, and creation. Just think about it for a moment. If you had no limits to what you want to create, and how you want to see planet Earth develop in the coming decades, what would you do? What would you create? How would you create it?

In your creative endeavors, forget about money. Too many individuals think in terms of money, and restrict themselves due to monetary issues. If money was no issue, what would you do? What would you create?

Individuals who are accustomed to creativity do not put money on top of their list of priorities. Needless to say, we all know that this list includes e.g. creative artists, but also entrepreneurs from all possible industries.

What I have learned from truly successful entrepreneurs is their capability of taking risks, being ready to invest their time and effort for something they believe in rather than working in a “secure” 9 to 5 job, investing in building relationships, networking, and utilizing their creativity to a full potential.

YOU, my friend, are a creative magician, blessed with many talents and capabilities of creating a future and world of your dreams. Your creative ideas and actions are valuable.
